About PeninsulaMommies
PeninsulaMommies.com developed from Site Administrator Barb Parcell’s personal need to make local connections after moving to a new town eight months pregnant with her second child. She wanted a way to meet and get to know moms in her area and get their kids together for some informal playtime, as well as to share the experience of visiting local attractions such as parks and museums. After searching all of the local resources and finding only pay-for-membership and religious groups, groups with application forms and exclusive membership requirements and activities focused on one child, she turned to a website centered around getting people together to meet locally. Within three months, the group went from six moms to nearly forty and they outgrew the capabilities of the original site that had recently started charging for membership. She then found The Mommies Network, which was dedicated to helping groups like hers and offered all of the features that they needed – for free.
PeninsulaMommies.com was founded on
July 5th, 2005 and currently has
685 active members. Back to top
About The Mommies Network
The Mommies Network is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping parents find support and friendship in their local community. Members of our network sites chat online in members-only discussion forums - discussing everything from the best photographers to the worst temper tantrums and all that lies between - and meet-up regularly at member-driven events in their city. Whether it's a late night commiseration on a crying baby (there are 4 am posts to prove it) or a Parent's Night Out at a great new restaurant, our groups provide what their members need, when and how they need it.
Our members work full time, stay home full time, work part time, represent many races, are pregnant for the first time, are adoptive parents, were adopted themselves, recently moved to the area, have lived here all their lives, have twins, are happy with one, are single parents, are searching out schools and have watched their kids graduate. In other words, we are a reflection of moms and dads in the real world. Back to top
